Elmdale Tennis Club
Club Manager Position
 
The Elmdale Tennis Club is looking for a motivated and responsible individual able to work independently with minimal direction to take on the role as Club Manager for the 2010 outdoor season. 
 
The Club is a community-based tennis facility in Westboro with 6 clay courts and a licensed clubhouse. It offers a full range of playing opportunities to accommodate all levels and all age groups: round-robins, tournaments, lessons and camps.  
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Overall Management:
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the staff, guests, and members;
  • Manage club stewards (including establishing schedules), clubhouse and grounds (the latter in conjunction with the Club’s Courtmaster);
  • Provide administrative support to the teaching activities of tennis pros;
  • Provide general administrative support to the Board of Directors.
 
Financial Management:
  • Manage accounts, invoices, payments, salaries, bank deposits etc., and update financial records daily;
  • Provide general bookkeeping services to the Club;
  • Provide Board of Directors with requested financial or other club information;
 
Membership Interface:
  • Manage membership lists and fees;
  • Encourage members’ participation in Club events and use of Club facilities;
  • Supervise court-bookings, membership etiquette and compliance with Club Code of Conduct.
 
Clubhouse Operations:
  • Organize and supervise cleaning of clubhouse and grounds in preparation for season opening;
  • Supervise general maintenance of clubhouse (cleaning, utilities, furniture, washrooms etc.);
  • Supervise canteen operations, which includes inventory management and picking up supplies at various retailers;
  • Supervise logistics of special events such as tournaments or social events (for instance in terms of additional food and beverages, tennis supplies or decorations)
 
 
 
 
Essential Skills – Competencies:
 
Solid organizational and hands-on abilities; strong multi-tasking skills.
Personable, friendly and enthusiastic personality; able to handle varied interactions with diplomacy and tact.
Self-motivated and results-oriented.
Basic bookkeeping skills.
Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet software such as MS Word and Excel.
Strong oral and written communication (Ability to communicate in French is an asset).
 
 
Additional Information:
 
Period of Employment: Seasonal Part-time mid-April to mid-October 2010.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
